Holiday season = relaxing? No way!

I've been really busy the last week or two, right around the time I'm normally thinking of a few relaxing weeks off. Instead, I've been hard at it trying to cram a few things in while I've got time off from work. So what am I working on?

First, I'm working on a major product targeted at anyone that works with content online. Yes, the tool really is that broadly useful, but really we'll be primarily targeting article marketers out of the gate. For someone that spends a significant portion of their time posting articles to directories, creating content for other people that post articles to directories, or anyone that updates multiple sites or blogs with original content, this application could literally change their entire work process.

It's been in progress for a number of months, but the last couple weeks development really went into overdrive. We're looking to launch in early February, which might seem far away but is coming up pretty fast for this size software project. More importantly on the time side, I've got the marketer's cruise coming up January and I want to be able to show off a significant portion of the functionality on the boat.

Secondly, I've been working on a couple of Twitter applications on the side. You can read more about why I'm building Twitter apps in my last post if you're interested. Any spare time I have has been going into this Twitter stuff. I've actually got a simple timeline search application built and sitting on a website, but I haven't released the URL publicly quite yet. A few people are looking at it for me for testing purposes, and I still have some cleanup to do before it's ready for general use.

Meanwhile, I'm completely blowing off stuff that I should be doing like thinking of Christmas gifts, extended family game days, and general holiday cheer. But I learned a long time ago that it's important to harness momentum when it's there, especially for me. I get energy and motivation in surges; riding the wave is the key to productivity.
