What's up with Twitter?

I think a reasonable person might ask the question, "Why are you messing around with writing a Twitter application?"

There are lots of possible answers. Profit would be the first obvious one, but that's not really the case. I don't have it in my mind to write a Twitter app to sell (no clue if one even would sell). Publicity would be another possibility. That's not it either. Sure, that'd be a great tertiary benefit if this turns into something that's actually useful to people, but it's not a driving motivation.

The truth is much less grandiose. First and foremost, I was looking to reconnect with my "technical roots". Don't get me wrong, I have a technical job and all that, but I don't do a lot of actual coding any more. I miss it, which is one thing, but even more than that I want to polish those skills and get fully up to speed on the latest and greatest. There's so much opportunity for quality technical solutions in the marketing business and I want to be primed to take advantage.

Since I needed a project of some type and Twitter is interesting to me, building an application around it was only natural. It's fairly simple, there are lots of marketers hanging around, and there are so many potential applications just waiting to be brought to life.

So I started throwing together a simple Twitter application to do...well, I don't entirely know what yet. I'm starting with the basics and adding bits and pieces as I think of them. Hopefully I'll get a few people to send some ideas of useful features my way which I can incorporate.

Oh yeah, and I need a name. All the obvious domain names that could be Twitter tools seem to be taken. Feel free to hit me up on Twitter if you've got any suggestions.
